Competitive Spatial Pricing for Urban Parking Systems: Network Structures and Asymmetric Information

نویسندگان

چکیده

Inspired by new technologies to monitor parking occupancy and process market signals, we aim expand the application of demand-responsive pricing in industry. Based on a graphical Hotelling model wherein each garage has information for its incoming demand, consider general competitive spatial systems under an asymmetric structure. We focus impact urban network structure incentive sharing. Our analyses suggest that garages are always better off circular-networked city, while they could be worse suburbs star-networked city. Nevertheless, overall revenue is improved aggregate congestion reduced results also sharing helps further exploit customers who turn become worse-off. Therefore, policy-makers should carefully evaluate their transportation data policy since impacts service-providers typically conflicting. Using SFpark data, empirically confirmed value In particular, with higher price-demand elasticity lower demand variance tend enjoy larger benefits via These insights support joint design rates systems.

Urban Parking Space Management via Dynamic Performance-Based Pricing

In congested urban areas, it remains a pressing challenge to reduce unnecessary vehicle circling for parking while at the same time maximize parking space utilization. In observance of new information technologies that have become readily accessible to drivers and parking agencies, we develop a dynamic non-cooperative bi-level model (i.e. Stackelberg leader-follower game) to set parking prices ...

Competitive Equilibria with Asymmetric Information

This paper studies competitive equilibria in economies where agents trade in markets for standardized, non-exclusive financial contracts, under conditions of asymmetric information (both of the moral hazard and the adverse selection type). The problems for the existence of competitive equilibria in this framework are identified, and shown to be essentially the same under different forms of asym...

Delegating Pricing Decisions in Competitive Markets with Symmetric and Asymmetric Information

D pricing decisions to the salesforce has been a salient issue for marketing academics and practitioners. We examine this issue in a competitive market using standard agency theory with symmetric and asymmetric information. Under symmetric information we find that the optimal contracts have a nice property that allows managers to reach the upper bound on firms’ profit by using either centralize...

Congestion Pricing: A Parking Queue Model

Drivers in urban neighborhoods who patrol streets, seeking inexpensive on-street parking create a significant fraction of measured traffic congestion. The pool of drivers patrolling at any time can be modeled as a queue, where ‘queue service’ is the act of parking in a recently vacated parking space and queue discipline is SIRO – Service In Random Order. We develop a queueing model of such driv...
